Asset Management Companies & Real Estate Short Sales

Just a couple of words about asset management companies and real estate short sales. Have you ever encountered the disconnect that exists between big banks and the vendors they hire to “protect” the bank’s assets. My recent experience leaves me wondering who’s on first and what’s on second. I witnessed in horror when an asset management company (names excluded) was contracted by a really big bank (often seen in the news for illegal and improper foreclosures) and sent out some poor schmuck to winterize an occupied short sale property, it really ticked off the resident.
Interestingly, no foreclosure proceeding has started, no notices sent to the owners and the owners and I have been in contact with the BIG BANK and told them all of this. Short of having the trespassers arrested for trespassing, it is hard to get them to understand that they have no legal right to be on or in a property they have not foreclosed on with proper notices and filings.
To my amazement, the bank has a cash offer on the table but takes over ten days to assign a “negotiator” to try and make a decision one way or another. Advice: Banks, get your act together and quit wasting depositors resources on fines imposed by governments through lawsuits and other civil filings by individuals. Do it right and do it with integrity.
